WHAT ARE DENTAL CROWNS?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth -- to cover the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance. The crowns, when set into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. There are also onlays and 3/4 crowns are types of dental crowns that don’t cover as much of your underlying tooth as traditional dental crowns. To determine your type of crown, we generally recommend a consultation with Dr. John Kazanowski. A crown may be needed to:

Restore a tooth when it is unable to support a large filling

Attach bridges

Protect a weak tooth from fracturing or restore fractured teeth

Cover badly shaped or discolored teeth

Cover
dental implants
ZIRCONIA CROWNS
When appropriate, Dr. Kazanowski uses the strongest and most reliable dental crowns made by BruxZir. Learn more about these crowns and bridges below.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN PLACING A DENTAL CROWN
It is always our goal at Addison Bloomingdale Dental Care to ensure that you are safe, comfortable, and satisfied with you treatments. When placing a dental crown, our dentist will ensure that all of your tooth's decay has been removed first. We don't want the tooth to continue to grow bacteria or decay underneath the crown. Once that is completed, we will be able to shape the tooth to place the crown.
